Guide to Understanding Hemp Contracts
4/30/20 – Whether you have grown hemp in the past few years or whether you are planning to grow it for the first time this season, it is important to think about what you are going to do with your hemp once you harvest it. Our recommendation is to have a plan in place before you plant.
Growing hemp, like growing any crop, comes with a certain amount of risk. One way to mitigate some of this risk is to have a written contract with a buyer now, at the start of the season.
We have put together a guide to understanding hemp contracts. It includes some terminology that may be included in a written contract, as well as some provisions that you may want to look out for.
Before signing a contract, you may want to work with an attorney who can review it, particularly an attorney who is familiar with the industry. We have a list of attorneys who work in hemp. Please note that we offer this as a service to the industry. We do not vet the attorneys listed, and are not endorsing any of them.
