N.C. A&T State University Partners with Avery & Watauga Extension for AgriShop & Academy series, 2/27/19 – 2/28/19

Are you interested in the basics of how to organize a successful small farm market garden endeavor in the NC mountains, plus some advanced information on three crops (hemp for floral extracts or CBD, heirloom tomatoes, and baby ginger) that could fit into such a local market garden system? On February 27–28, 2019, Specialists from N.C. A&T State University will partner with N.C. Cooperative Extension in Watauga and Avery Counties and Trosly Farm to teach two days of Small Farm AgriShop/Academy workshops and classes covering these topics.

The first AgriShop program on Wednesday, February 27 at Trosly Farm (95 Peter Harding Ln, Elk Park, NC 28622) in Avery County will cover the basics of market gardening, high tunnel management, innovative small farm tools, and vegetable crop planning, along with a full afternoon program on hemp cropping possibilities for the region. On Thursday, 2/28 at the Watauga County Agricultural Conference Center (252 Poplar Grove Rd., Boone, NC 28607), the workshops will continue with programs on Heirloom Tomato Production and Ginger Production for our region. There is no cost for farmers to register for these workshops, and lunch is included for registered participants each day.
